our backyard
this is what i'm dealing with here - and everyone is quick to remind me, "it's only the beginning and this is not bad at all!"Before it got too cold, the kids got to visit the zoo couple of times. Krakow zoo is five minutes from our house and it's actually a pretty nice zoo - and b/c the space is limited the animals are really close by. good for us but not too great for the animals. in this video you can hear ethan's latest favorite phrase repeated - "GO AWAY" as Mak is chuckling in the background.
Instead of saying "no", Ethan has resorted to saying "go away" in exchange. through out the day i hear "go away mommy" or "go away everybody" - and ofcourse, we don't go away.
also today while we were hanging out at the house, i noticed that ethan was bringing makayla a blanket, water and snacks. puzzled, i asked mak, "what's going on?" mak's reply - "we're playing 'servants' mommy. i'm the king and ethan is a servant - and he's going to put you and daddy in prison - just pretend, okay?" do i play along to foster imagination or reprimand her for manipulating her brother to do what she wants? apparently, i value imagination over kindness.

oh gosh, as i get older i realized i can't take cold temps. thus, i now fully support elderly people migrating to florida and calif. b/c this year, i'm cold throughout the day, i don't think i can survive in poland. more power to you, oh, young one.
anna did the same, the whole queen and slaves game. i told her not to play slaves, but at least change the word to "servants" - eventually i had to have a talk with her and jana about maybe playing less offensive game. i guess everyone wants control and power...
i like ethan's "go away" as he tries to kick the animal...who amongst us hasn't played an offensive game or two in our youth? i played master and servant well into my twenties :P
~ the snow looks beautiful but i know how one can also get that cabin fever along with it...can't believe its almost thanksgiving. u only have 2 more thanksgivings after this left!! :)
